PE/VC investors

Private Equity (PE) and Venture Capital (VC) investors are the catalysts of innovation and growth in the business world. PE firms primarily target established companies, seeking to optimize operations and unlock value through strategic investments and management expertise. They focus on long-term growth and profitability, often preparing businesses for a future sale or IPO. VC investors, by contrast, are the adventurers of finance, injecting capital into high-potential startups and early-stage companies. They embrace risk for the possibility of outsized returns, often becoming invaluable advisors. Both investor types not only bring capital but also strategic guidance, industry connections, and market insights, propelling their portfolio companies towards success.

SFPI-FPIM SFPI-FPIM
The Federal Holding and Investment Company was formed on 1 November 2006 by the merger of the Federal Holding Company and the Federal Investment Company. The federal authorities are the sole shareholder of the Federal Holding and Investment Company. The Société Fédérale de Participations et d'Investissement (SFPI) conducts the centralised management of the holdings of the federal authorities, cooperates with the authorities on specific projects and conducts its own investment policy in the interest of the Belgian economy. SFPI carries out the following main activities, as an investment company on the one hand and as a public holding company on the other: investment in companies distinguished by their interesting societal value in one of the priority sectors that the SFPI has in mind; acquisition of stakes in companies of strategic interest to the federal political level, either through sfpi's own funds or through funds that the State makes available on a project-by-project level. In the latter case, the SFPI operates "on a delegated mission". Result of the distribution between the different segments for the 2020 financial year. Investment Charter The Investment Charter concerns the first part of sfpi's activities. The other two aspects, in particular the function of public holding company and the operations carried out on behalf of the State "on a delegated mission", are the subject of separate documents and are not published. 1. Background Sfpi is a public limited company whose capital is 100% owned by the State. The SFPI comes from the merger of the Federal Investment Company with the Federal Holding Company. One of the objectives of this merger was to strengthen the effectiveness and coherence of the State's investment policy through the development of a proactive policy on this subject by the SFPI. To this end, the SFPI has established an investment charter that defines the framework for each SFPI investment and determines the applicable conditions on which the SFPI is based to make an investment and to evaluate, manage and monitor it.
