PONTIS Capital was founded by Gerhard Fiala and selected partners in March 2005. The company was soon recognized for its success as an independent management company for small institutional private equity funds. Managed as a partnership until 2015, the firm focused on small and medium sized technology-oriented enterprises, primarily in the German-speaking region. During this period, PONTIS successfully supported numerous portfolio companies in a broad variety of strategic and financial matters and helped these companies achieve their growth targets. This was often followed by a trade sale to strategic partners (corporates) or globally active financial investors (buyout funds) in the US and the EU.
