Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is the economic and community development agency for an area covering more than half of Scotland's land mass from Shetland in the north to the southern tip of Argyll and including almost 100 inhabited islands.





HIE has 4 priorities:

2. Strengthening communities and fragile areas





3. Developing growth sectors, particularly distinctive regional opportunities





4. Developing regional attractiveness








As the Scottish Government’s economic and community development agency for the north and west of Scotland, in line with the Government Economic Strategy (GES), HIE’s purpose is to generate sustainable economic growth in every part of the Highlands and Islands.
