Profile

Capital Advisors Partners Asia (CapAsia) is an award-winning private equity firm that invests in the infrastructure sectors of Emerging Asia with South East Asia as a home market. Founded in 2006, the firm has raised in excess of USD 500 million in capital and currently manages three infrastructure funds with over USD 250 million in assets under management. CapAsia is majority owned by the Rohatyn Group (TRG), a private investment firm focused on emerging markets, with the CIMB Group as a significant shareholder. The firm was originally established as a joint venture between Malaysia’s CIMB Group and South Africa’s Standard Bank.

CapAsia is headquartered in Singapore, where it is licenced as a Fund Manager by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and has offices in Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta. Through its on-the-ground presence in key markets of Southeast Asia, CapAsia is well positioned to access deal flow, effectively and efficiently work with mid-market target companies and provide active ownership to portfolio companies. The investment team possess significant international private equity and principal investment experience and in-depth local industry knowledge to enhance the active ownership approach that CapAsia employs in emerging market infrastructure investing.

CapAsia’s first fund, the South East Asian Strategic Assets Fund, was launched in 2006. The firm has since expanded its investment scope by securing the management of the Islamic Infrastructure Fund, a joint initiative backed by the Asian Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank in 2009 and launching the CapAsia ASEAN Infrastructure Fund III in 2012, which had a final close in 2015.

CapAsia has been an active investor in power generation (thermal and renewable) in five countries and toll-roads in three countries in Asia. We uphold high standards of environmental and social governance in our investment programme and offer training to our portfolio companies.
